- Hospitals you can use
- Open — any private hospital
- In hospital
- No overall annual limit. Any private hospital.
- Day-to-day
- No savings account. Insured day-to-day pool instead: R4 700/person (pooled per family) for GP/specialist/physio/clinical psychology; R8 600/person for acute medicine; R24 200/person for non-PMB chronic medicine; unlimited standard radiology and pathology.
- Chronic medication
- 271 PMB conditions and 26 CDL conditions covered in full, unlimited.
- Maternity
- 10 antenatal/postnatal consultations + 2 dietician/lactation consultations + 2 2D ultrasound scans + newborn hearing screening.
- Dental
- Conservative dentistry plus specialised dentistry (crowns, implants, bridges, orthodontic treatment), DRC network.
- Optical
- Opticlear network, per person per 24-month cycle: eye test + R1 190 frame/lens enhancement, or R1 925 contact lenses.
- Mental health
- R56 500 per beneficiary (max R76 900 per family) per year for hospitalisation and professional psychiatric services, incl. one educational psychologist consultation per beneficiary for autism diagnosis. R6 300 per beneficiary per year for out-of-hospital depression treatment. R170 per beneficiary per month for medicine.
- PMBs (prescribed minimum benefits)
- Full PMB cover (271 conditions) plus 26 CDL, unlimited. Cancer treatment R682 500 per family plus R250 000 exceptional medicine.
- Emergencies
- Netcare 911 emergency transport, unlimited in-country; R2 600 road / R17 700 air outside. Refractive surgery unlimited. MRI/CT imaging unlimited; PET scans R28 800 per case.
- Gap cover
- Least likely in the range to need gap cover — day-to-day pool and specialist/prosthesis limits are the highest Medihelp offers.
