MedElite is a hospital + savings plan from Medihelp. In 2026 it costs R8 922 a month for the main member, R8 352 for an adult dependant and R2 418 for a child.

What MedElite covers
- Hospitals you can use
- Open — any private hospital
- In hospital
- No overall annual limit. Any private hospital, plus day procedure facilities for certain day procedures.
- Day-to-day
- 10% of contribution to a savings account: R10 728/year main member, R10 008 dependant, R2 880 child. Full year's allocation available as a credit facility from January; unused funds roll over. Once depleted: insured day-to-day pool of R15 200 (member) / R17 700 (+1) / R20 200 (+2) / R22 700 (+3) per year, with category sub-limits for GP/specialist/physio (R3 850–R7 550), medicine (R5 000–R8 850) and non-PMB chronic medicine (R5 950–R12 800).
- Chronic medication
- 271 PMB conditions and 26 CDL conditions covered in full, unlimited.
- Maternity
- 10 antenatal/postnatal consultations + 2 dietician/lactation consultations + 2 2D ultrasound scans + newborn hearing screening.
- Dental
- Conservative dentistry (check-ups, fillings, X-rays, oral hygiene) plus specialised dentistry (crowns, bridges, orthodontic treatment), DRC network.
- Optical
- Opticlear network, per person per 24-month cycle: eye test + R1 190 frame/lens enhancement, or R1 925 contact lenses.
- Mental health
- R46 400 per beneficiary (max R64 300 per family) per year for hospitalisation and professional psychiatric services, incl. one educational psychologist consultation per beneficiary for autism diagnosis. R5 250 per beneficiary per year for out-of-hospital depression treatment. R145 per beneficiary per month for medicine.
- PMBs (prescribed minimum benefits)
- Full PMB cover (271 conditions) plus 26 CDL, unlimited.
- Emergencies
- Netcare 911 emergency transport, unlimited in-country; R2 600 road / R17 700 air outside.
- Gap cover
- Recommended for extensive specialist, prosthesis or chronic medicine needs beyond the day-to-day sub-limits.
