What MedAdd Elect covers
- Hospitals you can use
- Medihelp MedAdd Elect hospital network (restricted, wider tier than MedVital Elect)
- In hospital
- No overall annual limit. Network hospitals only; day procedure network applies to certain day procedures.
- Day-to-day
- 15% of contribution to a savings account: R5 760/year main member, R4 464 dependant, R2 016 child. Full year's allocation available as a credit facility from January; unused funds roll over. Once depleted: R2 100/year member, R4 200/year family for GP, specialist, medicine, radiology and pathology.
- Chronic medication
- 271 PMB conditions and 26 CDL conditions covered in full, unlimited. Formulary and DSP apply on the Elect network.
- Maternity
- 10 antenatal/postnatal consultations + 2 dietician/lactation consultations + 2 2D ultrasound scans + 9 months iron and folic acid supplements + newborn hearing screening.
- Dental
- Conservative dental benefits for children under 18 (DRC network); removal of impacted wisdom teeth for all ages.
- Optical
- Opticlear network, per person per 24-month cycle: eye test + R330 frame/lens enhancement, or R745 contact lenses.
- Mental health
- R31 800 per beneficiary (max R43 800 per family) per year for hospitalisation and professional psychiatric services. R3 150 per beneficiary per year for out-of-hospital depression treatment. R100 per beneficiary per month for medicine.
- PMBs (prescribed minimum benefits)
- Full PMB cover (271 conditions) plus 26 CDL, unlimited. Formulary and DSP apply.
- Emergencies
- Netcare 911 emergency transport, unlimited in-country; R2 600 road / R17 700 air outside.
- Gap cover
- Recommended for specialist or out-of-network shortfalls once savings are depleted.
