What MedPrime Elect covers
- Hospitals you can use
- MedPrime Elect network — access to the full range of Medihelp's acute hospital network
- In hospital
- No overall annual limit. Network hospitals only; day procedure network applies to certain day procedures.
- Day-to-day
- 10% of contribution to a savings account: R5 688/year main member, R4 824 dependant, R1 656 child. Full year's allocation available as a credit facility from January; unused funds roll over. Once depleted: R7 550/year member, R13 900/year family insured pooled benefit for GP, specialists, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, supplementary health services, acute medicine, non-PMB chronic medicine, radiology and pathology (GP network applies on Elect).
- Chronic medication
- 271 PMB conditions and 26 CDL conditions covered in full, unlimited. Formulary and DSP apply on the Elect network.
- Maternity
- 10 antenatal/postnatal consultations + 2 dietician/lactation consultations + 2 2D ultrasound scans + newborn hearing screening.
- Dental
- Conservative dentistry (check-ups, fillings, X-rays, oral hygiene) plus specialised dentistry (crowns, bridges, orthodontic treatment), DRC network.
- Optical
- Opticlear network, per person per 24-month cycle: eye test + R955 frame/lens enhancement, or R1 375 contact lenses.
- Mental health
- R38 200 per beneficiary (max R51 500 per family) per year for hospitalisation and professional psychiatric services, incl. one educational psychologist consultation per beneficiary for autism diagnosis. R4 200 per beneficiary per year for out-of-hospital depression treatment. R130 per beneficiary per month for medicine.
- PMBs (prescribed minimum benefits)
- Full PMB cover (271 conditions) plus 26 CDL, unlimited. Formulary and DSP apply.
- Emergencies
- Netcare 911 emergency transport, unlimited in-country; R2 600 road / R17 700 air outside.
- Gap cover
- Recommended once savings are depleted, for extensive specialist or prosthesis needs.
