Terms of Use

Last updated: 10 July 2026
This is a solid starting template, not a substitute for a proper legal review — especially the sections on broker referrals and liability. Get it checked by someone qualified in South African consumer and financial-services law before relying on it in production.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using plainaid.co.za (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the Site.

2. What PlainAid is

PlainAid is an independent, free information and comparison service covering South African medical aid schemes and their network hospitals. We built it to make medical aid easier to understand — not to sell it to you.

PlainAid is not a medical aid scheme, broker, administrator, or Financial Services Provider (FSP). We do not give financial or medical advice, and nothing on this Site should be treated as such. Any guidance you receive after submitting a form comes from a third-party accredited broker or adviser, not from PlainAid.

3. Accuracy of information

We source benefit and premium information from official scheme benefit guides published for the relevant year, and hospital network information from publicly available scheme documentation. We do our best to keep this accurate and current, but:

Always verify cover details directly with the relevant scheme before making a healthcare or financial decision. PlainAid is not liable for decisions made solely on the basis of information shown on the Site.

4. Broker and adviser referrals

If you submit a "Get free guidance" or "Get broker advice" form and consent to being contacted, we share your details with an accredited third-party broker or financial adviser. That broker or adviser — not PlainAid — is responsible for the advice they give you, and for complying with the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS) and any other applicable financial services regulation. PlainAid is not a party to any policy, product, or advice relationship you enter into as a result of that referral.

5. Using the Site

You may use the Site for your own personal, non-commercial purpose of researching and comparing medical aid options. You agree not to:

6. Intellectual property

The Site's design, layout, original written content, and the way we've organised and compared scheme data belong to PlainAid. Medical scheme names, logos, and trademarks referenced on the Site belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe and compare their publicly available plans — this Site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discovery, Momentum, Bonitas, Bestmed, or any other scheme mentioned.

7. Limitation of liability

The Site is provided "as is," for general information purposes. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PlainAid is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Site, reliance on information shown on it, or your dealings with any broker or scheme referred through it.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
